What is interventional pain management?

Interventional pain management is an area of medicine that focuses on treating illnesses, conditions or injuries that cause pain and limit function. The unique advantage of this specialty is that it involves minimally invasive procedures that are more patient-friendly than surgery.

Providing effective relief for a variety of conditions.

Your care with Dr. Balog starts with a complete health history and physical examination. If indicated, Dr. Balog will conduct in-office diagnostic testing to accurately pinpoint the source of your pain. His diagnostic capabilities include nerve conduction studies (NCS), nerve conduction velocity studies (NCV), discography, facet injections and nerve blocks.

Dr. Balog will then use this information to create your individualized treatment plan designed for effective and long-lasting relief. His extensive training in anesthesiology and interventional pain management places him in a unique position to diagnose and treat a variety of conditions, including:

  • Back & neck pain
  • Spinal pain
  • Leg pain
  • Pain caused by varicose veins
  • Pain associated with vertebral compression fractures
  • Shoulder & arm pain
  • Muscle & joint pain
  • Pain after back surgery
  • Cancer pain
  • Reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD)
  • Neuropathic pain
  • Work injury pain
  • Abdominal & pelvic pain

In-office procedures for more comfort and lower cost.

With the exception of kyphoplasty, Dr. Balog performs all of his procedures in the comfort and convenience of Oregon Pain Associates’ 3,300-square-foot office. Nonclinical in look and feel, this state-of-the-art facility resembles an upscale spa. You’ll feel right at home with its warm and inviting atmosphere, soothing artwork, oversized plasma screen TV and more.

Plus, having your procedure performed in-office means lower costs for you. There are no facility fees and Dr. Balog doesn’t require an anesthesiologist’s support because he is one.
